Listen carefully to the end of the trailer Screaming 7. Right before the end credits, a voice can be heard saying “This is going to be fun.” Did you catch him?
This is Matthew Lillard, who wasn’t in Screaming Since the first movie. (This will happen when your character turns out to be Ghostface; these guys don’t tend to survive past one movie in the series.) But that’s Lillard’s unmistakable voice in the trailer, and Lillard has been confirmed as a cast member for the seventh installment. Screaming. It remains to be seen exactly how this will work, or who will play, and what the status of the dead or the living will be.
Also returning to the series after his absence from the previous sequel is Neve Campbell, who once again stars Sidney Prescott, Ghostface’s favorite target. The film also stars Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers and David Arquette as Dewey, who died (spoiler alert) in Screaming 5. Screaming It’s one of the few Slasher series that doesn’t have supernatural elements, so it will be interesting to see how these old characters are brought back into the story.
The other notable part of this seventh film, which was heavily reworked after younger generations of the franchise’s stars, Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega, left the project during development, is that it marks the first Screaming It is directed by Wes Craven, Kevin Williamson, who created the series in the 1990s.
