Good boy
If you’re looking for a scary haunted house story with a funky twist, look no further than this Good boyan innovative independent horror film that tells its story from the perspective of a pet dog. The critically acclaimed film follows a dog named Indy who realizes that his owner is being haunted by an evil force after moving into a new home. As the owner becomes more upset, the canine must fight to be rescued.
Aside from its ingenious narrative style, the film packs a surprising emotional punch as the horrors unfold. But the real star of the film is the obedient dog, who is incredibly emotional and expressive on screen. (Seriously, this dog is a better actor than some of Hollywood’s current movie stars.) Good boy Available to rent or purchase via VOD on platforms like Amazon Prime.
V/H/S/Halloween
The latest entry in popularity V/hour/second series, V/H/S/Halloween It’s perfect for those looking for a found footage horror film or anthology because, you know, it’s both. Better yet, the film is all about Halloween, with many of the season’s hallmarks — from candy bowls to monstrous decorations — weaponized against the victims on screen. (I’ll never look at Skittles the same way again.)
Each story is different, and some parts are more effective than others, but it’s all fun, gory, lively, and steeped in All Hallows Eve nostalgia. V/H/S/Halloween It is streaming on Shudder and is available for rent or purchase via VOD, including on Amazon Prime.
Weapons
Honestly, the least you know about him Weapons Entry, the better. The film’s central mystery, which reveals itself unexpectedly in chunks across non-linear, multi-character chapters, is part of the fun, and I’ll be damned if anyone says they didn’t enjoy watching this supernatural mix of gonzo. barbaric Director Zach Krieger.
Basically, the film revolves around a class of kids who suddenly disappear after one day of not showing up to school. Fingers are being pointed around town as parents, police officers and teachers alike scramble to find out where the children went and why. The film, which was released in theaters in August, is streaming on HBO Max and available on VOD.
Return it
Possession movies are a staple of the Halloween season, and no possession film this year has the depth that it does Return it. Directed by Danny and Michael Filippo, the film follows a pair of newly orphaned siblings who are pulled into the middle of a terrifying arcane ritual by their new foster mother, who is seriously grieving and despairing after the loss of her young daughter.
It’s dark as hell, but this supernatural tale immerses you in all its tragedy, horror and gut-wrenching gore, and will stay in your tummy longer than any family candy long after you’ve watched it. Return it It is currently streaming on HBO Max, but is also available for purchase via VOD on Amazon Prime and other platforms.
The ugly sister
It may be based on the classic fairy tale, but this is no Cinderella story. The ugly sister is a twisted, subversive Norwegian black comedy Cinderella By telling it from the point of view of the so-called ugly sister. Because of her cruel mother, as well as her insecurities and jealousy toward her half-sister, a young woman undergoes a series of painful and gruesome cosmetic procedures in hopes of landing a prince.
Plastic surgery is medieval torture in this dark and brutal horror story about the body. However, you may want to skip the candy bowl while watching this movie, unless you intend to keep a bag of candy on hand as well. The ugly sister Available to stream on Shudder or AMC+, or rent or purchase via VOD.
