Nicknamed “the greatest that ever lived”, Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt) was FORMULA 1’s most promising phenomenon of the 1990s until an on-track accident nearly ended his career. Thirty years later, he is a nomadic driver when he is approached by his former teammate Ruben Cervantes (Javier Bardem), owner of a FORMULA 1 team in difficulty and on the verge of collapse.
Ruben convinces Sonny to return to FORMULA 1 for one last chance to save the team and be the best in the world. He will drive alongside Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris), the team’s rookie determined to set his own pace. But as the engines roar, Sonny’s past catches up with him and he discovers that in FORMULA 1, your teammate is your fiercest competitor – and that the path to redemption is not something you can travel alone.
